Star Wars Legends of the Galaxy  wants to invite all members of Legends of the Galaxy Community to consider attending or donating to the 2018 Campaign Against Cancer event put on by Fantasy Flight Games and St Jude Children’s Research Hospital

The Campaign Against Cancer is nation-wide event put on in select cities to raise money for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital through the playing of X-Wing Miniatures, a game developed by Fantasy Flight Games. The CAC is run by Twin Suns Charities, Inc and began in South Bend, Indiana in 2014. On April 7th, 2018, the Campaign Against Cancer tournament will be played at the locations listed below.

About the Event: The Campaign Against Cancer is an X-Wing Miniatures tournament played annually to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. This is an event run by players, supported by private and corporate donors, and hosted by local game stores. It is truly a community effort. If you want to know more about what CAC is doing, please join the Facebook group and become a part of the discussion.

How It’s Played: The Campaign Against Cancer is a competitive tournament played in a “pod format.” After registration, players will be divided into groups of 8 players each (as evenly as possible) and this will form a pod. The players within each pod will play 3 rounds of swiss play against only those other players assigned to his/her pod. Once round three is complete, all players will break for a lunch and, at that time, the software will reorganize the pods. Upon returning for lunch, players will be assigned to a new pod with peers that performed similarly to him before the lunch break. These new pods will be Division A, Division B, Division C, etc. Players will then play 3 more rounds of swiss within their pod. The winner of Division A will be the tournament champion, but the winners of Divisions B, C, D, etc. will also receive prizes for winning their divisions.

Each event ticket is $15 dollars, but you have the option to add an item called “Donation to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital” and that may be added in $10 increments. Last note, but very important, because this event ticket is a donation, it is nonrefundable.
